IT Department Staff Development Unit conducted a Webinar on “IoT based Smart Automation System using Packet Tracer” on 17th March 2021. Dr. Jehan Murugadhas, Networking/Internet and E-Security Section, IT Department, was the resource person. The aim of the webinar was to share the technical concepts of Internet of Things (IoT) based automation methods and IoT components connectivity procedures using Cisco Packet Tracer with the faculty members.
The smart automation system is a recent Internet of Things (IoT) based terminology but it is very useful to the people to manage day by day activities. In fact, most of the home electronic devices are automated but the interconnection of these technologies, the inter-corporation of automated appliances in a reasonable design, and the ease of deployment due to different communication provides comfortable and convenient living. These systems are manageable, with low-power consumption, secured, efficient, flexible, scalable and cost saving.
During Dr. Jehan technical sharing, he demonstrated the IoT based home appliances connectives and control mechanism using smart devices through Packet Tracer. He extended the demonstration to identify the Carbon Monoxide level in the car parking area and air pollution controlling methods using sensors. He executed the smart home automation system using remote IoT server.
The webinar concluded with a discussion on various IoT domains, job opportunities and future scope of the IoT based applications in the real life. The webinar was an eye-opener to realize the advancement in IoT based applications in the digital world.
